A Poem: Mind Trick

Last poem for the day. Enjoy!

Mind Trick
The saying is
"Time flys when you're having fun."
But what if you aren't
having any fun?
Does time still fly on by?
Or does it drag like a snail,
or a little kid pulling a doll in the dirt?
Time doesn't move any faster,
I now know
that it's just a mind trick.

A Poem: Invincible

Another poem!

Invincible
I feel invincible
with a pen in my hand
a ream of paper
and never ending time.

A multitude of things could result
from my never ending time
with a pen
and a ream of paper.

The one thing I know though,
in none of it will be
any good.

A Poem: Windows

A poem for ya'll to enjoy!

Windows
We're stuck in a room
without windows.

Trapped tightly
in a box,
without windows.

I'm suffocating slightly,
from the lack of light.

I'm beginning to feel faint
in this room
without air.

We're stuck in a room
without windows.

A Poem: Contradictions

Last poem in The Blanton Collection, and my favorite.

Contradictions
Based on Summer Circle by Richard Long
On the outside,
we're all different.
We're words of the English language,
each differently spelled,
and oddly pronounced,
but we're all the English language.

We are all pieces of
a jagged puzzle.
Pieces of a puzzle
that should be
24 inches wider.

Somehow, we all end up
in the misshapen oval
revolving around the same
moment.

I wonder why we're
all united.
I wonder how we're all
related.

I know that together
we could be something more,
than what we already are.
Already, I'm floating from our circle.
Already, I'm waiting for you to follow.

I stick out in our circle.
I stick out in our similar interest.
I'm longer, wider, lighter
than the rest.
I don't mind though.

From the side we look like cliffs,
Dangerously jagged,
Surprisingly tall, and
porcelain perfect,
all at the same time.

We may contradict each other,
we may separate a bit,
and we may float,
but truthfully?

We're all the same.

A Poem: Matched

Yet another poem in The Blanton Collection.

Matched
Based on Black and White No.2 by Franz Kline
We're all black and white,
with a dash of grey.

Silhouetted against the plain landscape,
we compliment each other.

Swirls and slashes,
crooked smears,
we match.

We're all black and white,
with a dash of grey.

A Poem: Human

Another poem in The Blanton Collection.

Human
a single penny isn't much,
but thousands result in many.
each one has a simple story,
one of true imagination.

man has interrupted the cycle,
per usual,
but the world keeps on revolving.
not necessarily around us,
but every piece of nature.

revolutions later, we watch
in fascination of ourselves,
a simple piece of the puzzle,
left on the dining room table
in the haze of rush.

when we are alone,
we falter,
and others pick up our broken pieces,
and we feels sorry for some reason.
We shouldn't though.

Our lives are all enter twined,
because our world is one big neighborhood,
where we all speak
a different tongue.
We judge, unfortunately,
but we are human.

What could you expect?

A Poem: I Am

Another poem in The Blanton Collection.

I am
I am separated between convases,
each one the same scheme,
just a different moral.
The details are divided as well,
except they're more etched.

I don't know why I fall every time
for the simple cry of the blackbird.
Is it the dark beauty?
Or the simple taste?
One can not know the same.

It's all a three dimensional
the entirety of truth
the wholeness of his face
on a backdrop of red
that I try to cover up.

A Poem: Tinted White

Another poem at the Blanton.

Tinted White
we're all here for one reason,
a reason that revolves around
one man.
something he did,
some stream of words he uttered,
made us forget.
forget fallen tree limbs,
forget kindness,
forget the outside world,
because here,
it's all a tinted white.

A Poem: Heads

I wrote this at the Blanton Art Museum in Austin, TX.

Heads
having my head this small
can cause some problems
First of all,
the decisions I make
aren't always the best.
I blame it on my head.
My collar is suffocating my,
My tie holding it all together.

Poems I've Written Lately

I've been writing poems a lot lately, and I wanted to share them with ya'll. So, here's four. More is coming!

Porcelain Passion
porcelain passion
is breaking chains
that bare something
syrupy and invisible
when the storm is furious

Standing Chains
homemade songs
have standing chains
that play with his voice
when the musical passion is exhausted.

Untitled
laugh
when his voice
is genuine.

Audience
crowd the storm
wide with barren passion
when invisible audiences
quietly play.
